Welcome to Penrallt
We are a body of Christian believers meeting in Bangor in North Wales. A lively, growing church, we have two services most Sundays as well as a range of midweek activities. We have a community centre at the back of our building, which is at the centre of our interaction with our local community. Our members come not just from Bangor but from all over northern Gwynedd and the isle of Anglesey, and we have a good relationship with the other churches in our area.
What is Penrallt like?
We try to be open and friendly, creative and modern, wise and down-to-earth, informal and relevant. We try to be a church where you draw closer to God, learn something useful, bring a friend without ever feeling embarrassed, always feel welcomed, safe and understood. Our music flows from rock to traditional hymns, from Celtic folk to blues, from sit-and-reflect to stand-up-and-clap-your-hands.
Although Penrallt is primarily an English-language church, we are sympathetic to the Welsh language and have several first-language Welsh speakers amongst our members. We sing our hymns and songs bilingually wherever possible and hold some events bilingually or in Welsh.
Because of increasing numbers we have bought and renovated a large old building in Holyhead Road. We now hold all events and services there and would be pleased to welcome you. A map and directions to the church are available here.
We run the Alpha Course for those interested in finding out about what the Christian faith is about. For details of the course in Penrallt look at our Alpha page, and to find out more about Alpha you can visit the Alpha web site on http://alphacourse.org.
